There is something irreplaceable about Chand Raat — that electric in-between night when Ramadan has given its last and Eid has not yet arrived. The air hums with anticipation. Hands reach for mehndi cones. Bangles clink. And for a few hours, everything feels a little more alive.
On the 17th of March, Next Generation Pakistan brought that magic to Mian Shameem Anwar Trust School. Our Chand Raat Festival drew together a community of over 70 individuals for a warm iftar, surrounded by colour, celebration, and the kind of joy that needs no occasion beyond the moment itself.
As the fast broke, mehndi stalls and bangle distributions filled the evening with colour and laughter for the girls — small gestures that carry immense meaning when they are given freely, in a space that feels safe and celebratory. To watch young girls light up over the intricate curl of a mehndi pattern is to be reminded of why this work matters.
Evenings like this do not happen without a community that cares. To our volunteers, supporters, and the incredible team at Shameem Anwar Trust School — thank you for making space for celebration alongside service.
Eid Mubarak to all. May the joy of this night carry forward.
